Patio Covers for all those cosy hours outside

An elegant patio cover creates a wonderful room outside where you can spend many cosy hours in both sunshine and rain. During the day the cover provides pleasant shade, and in the evening, you can sit sheltered from the falling dew. It is also nice to sit under the cover and listen to the rain – maybe with the patio heater on and a soft warm blanket.

Where to place your patio cover

Often, the placement of the patio cover will be given according to the house, patio and entry ways. However, sometimes you can start from scratch and then you need to consider when you want to use the patio cover – do you want sun in the morning or in the afternoon? Place the patio cover on the side of the house to match the sun or you can even place the patio cover up against a garden wall or similar away from the house. No matter where you want to place the patio cover, it is important that you fasten the structure to a strong and solid wall. Use the right anchors and screws as the structure is heavy and will cause a lot of damage if not fastened correctly. If you are in doubt, please contact a professional so it is done correctly and safely. When the patio cover has been attached to the house or wall, you need to fasten the legs of the cover to the ground. Again, make sure you use the right screws or bolts.

PS. Another solution could be a gazebo where you do not have to attach the construction to the house and still have a wonderful room outside.

How to assemble your patio cover

All our various patio covers are delivered as an assembly set with an enclosed manual. It is important that you start by organising all the various parts to be sure that everything is there and what goes where. Make sure that you have enough room to work and make sure that you respect various safety measurements – you can find our Safety Advice in the shop – here you can see more about protective gear, general rules and advice about the assembly and more. One thing is important – you need to be two persons to do the job as the parts can be heavy and you need to be precise to assemble the parts correctly.

DIY patio covers in maintenance-free materials

The various patio covers we offer are made of strong, durable and maintenance-free materials. You can assemble the modern and lightweight structure if you are two persons with a little experience in this kind of work. When you have assembled and fastened the patio cover to the ground or base, you can forget about spending time on maintenance as you do not have to worry about rot, rust, or peeling. Simply clean the patio cover from time to time using a garden hose and a soft brush. If you have large trees around the patio you may need to remove leaves from the patio cover - especially in the autumn. Be careful not to lean on the roof of the patio cover when you clean it.

Use your patio cover for various purposes

The strong and durable patio covers in maintenance-free materials can also be used for other purposes than the obvious with garden furniture under it. Use the sheltered space as a carport or a place for your bikes or garden machines. The patio cover will also be perfect over the children´s play area, paddling pool or sand box. Or how about putting a hot tub under there. Some of our customers divide the use of the patio cover into two different purposes - during the summer, they use the patio cover over a lounge area – and the rest of the year, they use the patio cover as a carport. Another way to make use of the protected and sheltered area is to place garden furniture and other things that need to be protected during the winter. Please note: Make sure to remove snow from the patio cover as too much heavy, wet snow may damage the patio cover due to the weight of the snow.

The patio cover protects you and much more against the sun

In general, it is a good idea to follow the official advice about protecting yourself against too much sun. However, with a patio cover you can stay outside for much longer without worrying about the UV index as the roof of the cover stops the damaging rays. Furthermore, you do not have to remove cushions and other things from the patio all the time. With a patio cover, your garden furniture, the BBQ, toys and more are well-protected all year round.
