The materials for the various marquees

Our marquees are made of high-quality materials to provide you with strong and durable marquees for all the important parties and all the other events in your life. The main materials in our marquees are steel, PVC and PE – and some aluminium and polyester. Here you can see a few facts about the various materials:

PVC (Soft) – Polyvinyl Chloride

It would be wonderful to avoid PVC all together, but the material is simply impossible to do without if you want the quality of the marquee covers that we offer. By using a lower quality, you would simply put more strain on the environment as it would not last as long as our PVC products does. When you at some point need to dispose of your soft PVC, e.g., a marquee cover from Dancover, it is important that you hand it in at your local Recycle centre, Waste Centre or similar. The important thing here is that we all do our best to dispose responsibly. Thank you.

The people in charge of waste in the area will then place the soft PVC in depository so the damaging substances are not released into nature as it can happen when incinerated.

Polyethylene (PE)

PE (polyethylene) is one of the most popular types of plastic in the world. Please note that it is not biodegradable, so it is very important that you hand in your Dancover products containing PE at your local waste centre or similar so it can be recycled. If your PE is incinerated or used for landfill, it will not be used for recycling. Recycling of polyethylene is a relatively simple process due to the composition of the material. The waste PE plastic can be melted to a liquid form and then reshaped into new products. By making sure that the waste PE is recycled, it will lead to the creation of new, durable products that are both cost effective and environmentally friendly. At Dancover, we use polyethylene or PE for our various covers for marquees, storage tents, and tarpaulins. They will last for a long time, but when they are worn or you do not need them anymore, please dispose responsibly.

Steel

At Dancover, we used high quality steel for our frames and other strong and durable structures. With our wide range of Spare Parts, you may enjoy your marquee, storage tent, or boat tent for many years. You can often keep the frame and replace the cover if you need to at some point. When you want to dispose of your frame and other steel parts from Dancover, please deliver it to your local Waste Centre.

Steel is an extremely durable material that you can use and reuse many times. With this sturdy material, we can talk about upcycling, as old steel often will be an even better quality when recycled due to new and better processing methods. An estimate will tell you that we have produced more than 10 billion tons of steel through time. Within construction, the life span of the steel is app. 50 years or more, while steel for cars, bikes, and domestic appliances is 5-15 years.

In Europe more than 90 % steel from cars alone is recycled. Even though much steel is recycled, the need for steel is still not covered entirely by recycled steel. Steel is magnetic and that makes it easy to separate from much other waste when sorting for recycling. Compared to other recycled materials, steel uses relatively little energy in the recycling process.

Polyester

Polyester is the third most used type of plastic with an 18% market share after polyethylene (33,5 %) and polypropylene (19,5 %). Polyester is used for woven and knitted fabric that are used extensively in apparel and home furnishings, from shirts and pants to jackets and hats, bed sheets, blankets, upholstered furniture, computer mouse mats, and much more. Here at Dancover, we primarily use polyester for our many different covers for our popular and colourful UNICO marquees and our well-known FleXtents® pop-up gazebos and marquees.

Aluminium

We use aluminium for some of the frames for our various marquees, pop-up gazebos, and gazebos. The metal provides you with a strong, light, and durable frame. 95-98 % of all aluminium can be recycled. 75% of all the aluminium ever produced is still in use due to the durability of the metal and perfect recyclability.

Waste separation secures high recyclability

Europa is leading in recycling aluminium and meticulous sorting is part of this success. By sorting the metal waste, you get a purer material to be used repeatedly for the same types of products. This way we can use our aluminium resources optimally.
